Sorry for the lack of blogs.

Just want to say sorry for the lack of blogs, been very busy planing for future projects and working a full-time job with overtime. My main goal is to do my best to get a video out every week of a project build.

I do have tons of respect for the YouTube woodworkers who doing the same thing what I'm doing. Juggling full time job, family, and shooting videos take a lot of time.  Regardless who the woodworker might be, make sure to take some time out and thank them for there time and making the video. To make a good video there is a lot of planing, creative thinking, and time just to edit a video. My rustic tree branch picture frame, at the start there was over 60 minutes of video to edit all down to a 7 minute video.

Just want to say sorry again for the lack of blogs and hope to see you again in the next woodworking video.

Tapering and Straightening Jig

I needed to build a jig that I can straighten the ends of rough cut lumber for a future project, and  I wanted this jig to be adjustable too. This jig can straighten boards to 12 inches wide to 2 inches wide, from lengths to 2" to 8 feet.  On the build of this jig I also discovered that it can also be used as a tapering jig. That made this jig super cool, I love jigs with multiple uses this way it saves you time, money and workshop space, when it comes time to store the jig.

If you can't afford to get a planner like me, or many people don't have space in there shops to set one up, so you learn to build jigs, so you can over come these hurdles that come your way.

This project I was able to work with a special guest woodworker Ron Buchanan  aka (Wood Traveler). This project we build some rocking scooters were we got the plans from Ana White website. All the parts were screwed together, then painted. Check out Ron's website and follow along on his cross country travel and see who will be the next woodworker.

Have you ever did a project and years later you look back and tell yourself, that if I were to ever do it again I will do this and that? Come up with better ideas to make it better. That's how I feel about the original beer can fish project. I feel by doing this project again, but this time doing it as a YouTube video, I could do a better job on letting the viewers know all went on during the build of the project. Nothing against live build videos, or the Summers Woodworking show. I still love being on Summers Woodworking Show and have fun doing so.

Original Beer Can Fish July 13th 2013

This is the video of the beer can fish project I did on the Summers Woodworking Show live on July 13th 2013.  Bad thing about doing this project live was I try to squeeze a 5 hour long project in to 1 hour. I was able to do it by having pieces already cut ahead of time. You only see me cut out 1 fish head, and 1 fish tale and at the end of the project you had 4 fish. I wasn't happy with the sign, I only put catch of the day on the wood with a paint marker. 4 fish heads and 4 tales  were already finished so I didn't have to wait for it to dry. As you can see it was difficult for people to see at time what I was doing on the project. Original beer can fish project will always have a special place for me, as this was my very first woodworking project I did live.

Mobile Band Saw Base

Well for this project I wanted the new band saw to be mobile, so it can be move out of the way when I don't need it, but yet make it easy to move when I'm ready to use the band saw. Band saw weight was over 245 pounds so I needed to build a base that is strong, and wanted to get rid of scrap wood that was laying around the shop. Hopefully this video inspire you to build your own mobile base for the tool you want to be mobile without spending extra money on store bought mobile bases.

Contest entry for the 2014 2nd annual Summers Woodworking Creative 2x4 contest. This year I figure if i want to try to beat last year's winner Steve Carmichael, I had to come up with something super creative that nobody would expect. The 2x4 biker vest, was the first time I used rivets on a woodworking project and I also explore the world of steam bending wood.
